"The war for freedom will never really be won because the price of freedom is constant vigilance over ourselves and over our Government."
- Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962)
Titled "Constant Vigilance" in honor of Eleanor Roosevelt, this photo was taken on the September 11th weekend in 2004. The view is from underneath Liberty’s torch symbolizing that we are all under her protection. Eleanor’s life mission was human rights for all and she reminds us that even the best governments must also be watched carefully. Let us remember not to tread on the rights of others as we protect our own. The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was dedicated October 28, 1886 .
